OCEAN DAD: ORIGINS
Presenting OCEAN DAD: ORIGINS, our submission for Game Boy Showdown 2025.
A brief (23 second?) cutscene depicting the origin story of our terrible band, Ocean Dad.
> An enormous floating Ocean Dad head appeared and crushed our 1994 Ford Escort during a trip to Safeway, transforming us into the Dads and imbuing us with our powers.
This origin story was written in about 3 seconds on the back of a metaphorical napkin, so it was quite an experience to animate it into a full cutscene. Hopefully what I've learned will be applicable to full games too! Had a good time working on this and trying to make it do what I wanted.

Our stuff is on Spotify, but you can also check us out at oceandad.bandcamp.com! I suggest starting with Cathode Ray Tunes or Bone Crisis!, they're some of our best work (in my humble opinion)!
